Connecting your Google Play Console publisher account is the first step to start optimizing your apps with PressPlay. This integration allows PressPlay to read your app data, create experiments, and sync results automatically.
Before you begin, ensure you have:
Admin access to your Google Play Console developer account
At least one published app on Google Play Store
A PressPlay account (see Creating Your Account)
Pop-ups enabled in your browser for OAuth authentication
Log in to PressPlay at app.pressplay.phiture.com
Click "Publishers" in the main navigation menu
You'll see a list of connected publishers (empty if this is your first time)
Click the "Connect Publisher" button
A new browser window or tab will open with Google's OAuth login screen
Select the Google account associated with your Play Console developer account
If you're already logged into multiple Google accounts, make sure to select the correct one
Review the permissions PressPlay is requesting
PressPlay will request the following permissions:
View app information and download bulk reports - To read your app data and experiment results
Create and edit store presence - To create custom store listings for experiments
Manage store presence experiments - To create and manage A/B tests
Important: These permissions only allow PressPlay to manage experiments. PressPlay cannot:
Publish new app versions or updates
Change your live store listings directly
Access financial or revenue data
Modify app binaries or code
Click "Allow" to grant permissions
You'll be redirected back to PressPlay
Once connected, PressPlay will automatically sync your publisher data:
You'll see a "Syncing..." status indicator
PressPlay fetches your apps, store listings, and existing experiments
This initial sync typically takes 2-5 minutes depending on the number of apps
Once complete, you'll see your publisher listed with a "Connected" status
During the initial sync, PressPlay imports:
Apps: All apps in your publisher account (published and unpublished)
Store Listings: Current store presence data for each locale
Custom Store Listings (CSLs): Any existing custom store listings
Experiments: Active experiments running in Google Play Console
Assets: Current icons, feature graphics, and screenshots
After sync completes, verify everything is working:
Click on your newly connected publisher
You should see a list of your apps
Check that app names and package IDs are correct
Verify the sync timestamp shows a recent date
Click into an app to see its store listings and locales
Your publisher connection can have different statuses:
Connected: Successfully connected and syncing properly
Syncing: Currently synchronizing data from Google Play Console
Error: Connection issue needs attention (see Troubleshooting below)
Disconnected: Publisher has been manually disconnected
Once connected, PressPlay automatically syncs with Google Play Console:
Experiment Status: Every 30 minutes
Store Listing Data: Every 6 hours
Experiment Results: Daily
Manual Sync: You can trigger a manual sync anytime (see Syncing with Google Play)
If you have multiple Google Play developer accounts:
Repeat the connection process for each publisher account
Each publisher will appear as a separate entity in PressPlay
You can switch between publishers in the navigation
See Managing Multiple Publishers for detailed workflows
Use a dedicated Google account: Consider creating a specific Google account for API access
Enable 2FA: Always enable two-factor authentication on your Google account
Regular audits: Periodically review connected apps in your Google Account settings
Revoke access: If you stop using PressPlay, revoke access from Google Account settings
If you need to disconnect a publisher:
Go to the Publishers page
Click the three-dot menu next to the publisher
Select "Disconnect Publisher"
Confirm the action
All apps, experiments, and data for this publisher will become inaccessible
Warning: Disconnecting a publisher does NOT delete your experiments from Google Play Console. They will continue running independently.
If your connection expires or is disconnected:
Click "Reconnect" next to the publisher
Follow the OAuth flow again
PressPlay will re-sync your data
Existing experiments in PressPlay will be matched with Google Play Console experiments
Verify you're logged into the correct Google account
Ensure you have admin access to the Google Play Console
Check that your account has the necessary permissions
Try using an incognito/private browser window
Check your internet connection
Disable VPN temporarily if connected
Clear browser cache and cookies
Try a different browser
Click "Trigger Sync" manually
Wait 5-10 minutes for sync to complete
Check if Google Play Console is experiencing outages
Verify your Google account permissions haven't changed
Ensure apps are published (not just drafted) in Google Play Console
Wait for initial sync to complete (may take 5+ minutes for many apps)
Trigger a manual sync
Contact support if apps still don't appear after 15 minutes
Google Play Console API has usage quotas:
PressPlay manages quota usage automatically
In rare cases, you may see sync delays due to quota limits
These limits reset daily
Enterprise accounts have higher quotas
After connecting your publisher successfully:
Add apps to PressPlay by enabling them for testing
Set up Slack integration for team notifications
Create your first experiment using the Quick Start Guide
